Overclock Intel GMA HD

The new GMA HD's (now called Intel HD Graphics) embedded in the new Clarkdale (i3/i5) CPUs have a potential of being unlocked upto 1200MHz. The different variants of i3 and i5 CPUs contain the GMA chip running at different frequencies.

The higher clocked GMA in the more costly processors attracts consumers towards them. The users should understand even if they get a slower GMA in a cheaper processor they can easily search the BIOS for Intel HD Graphics overclocking option and increase the default clock of GMA.

Note: I wrote this article just to create an awareness about GMA HD's overclocking potential. However, don't expect miracles in gaming performance. If you play games with minimum eye candy you may get some boost to get playable frame rates. Remember, GMA wasn't meant for gaming.
